NOT EVERYTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS

NOT EVERYTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS

Life is all about choices. Not right or wrong choices, but choices that lead us different ways.

Nardo knew this very well, because his life was always based on serenity. Nardo has always been focused on his goals, different from his friendships.

While all his friends celebrated, Nardo focused on his goals, focused on his work. He knew that even if he was not from a rich crib, he could conquer anything he wanted through work and sacrifice.

Nardo paid the tuition of his younger sisterwhere she lives outside Brazil. He also visited his mother every Saturday, religiously, to look in on about her situation, her health, and to give money to her, which he did with the greatest good will, because, even with all the difficulties his family faced during the his childhood, his mother always did her best to give what he could to him, and therefore, this retribution in his vision was, at the very least, obligation, but he did not see it that way. He felt happy to be able to have a better standard of living today than anyone he knew.

Nardo was the most responsible person that existed. He was distrustful of everything and everyone. He only believed in what was palpable. He never used drugs. He knew this was detrimental to his health. Nardo was so sure he never had sex without a condom. He also never had children because he knew that the world was not a fair place for people. He did not want to put his offspring in the world, for the world did not deserve it. For Nardo the human breed was dwindling every day and would reach a point where there would be no more goodness. But even so, Nardo did his part. He helped institutions with what he could.

While his friends were enjoying themselves, Nardo worked. While his friends were traveling, Nardo worked. While his friends were drugged, Nardo worked. He was a workaholic, and best of all, he liked what he did. Nowhere else was he as good as he was at his job.

Nardo had influence with businessmen, politicians and the most important people in the country. It had free transit in political, judicial and business circles. Everyone knew him, everyone revered him, everyone admired him. Mainly by having achieved all that he achieved through his hard work and built an empire since of nothing.

And his life was like this, a dream everyone wanted to live, until the day the police invaded his house and arrested him.

At trial the judge asks.

  • You are accused of being the greatest trafficker in the country. All this time we were after you and we finally caught you. We have enough evidence to leave you in jail for quite a while. But an question has always intrigued me, have you ever used drugs?

Nardo responds:

  • I don't. It kills!

In the world there are two types of people: those who accept what life gives them and those who go after their dreams, who face all the challenges and want to overcome. Those who are accommodated and those who do their best to win.
