Today I've encountered tortoise beetle beetles with transparent cuticles, hard but flexible outer coverings that give these insects a family name and protect the delicate tissue inside. These beetles are often metallic in color and in some species may even change color. Below are some amazing variations of the world's beetle turtles.
Perhaps the most familiar species for the Atjehnese are the Golden Tortoise Beetle (Charidotella sexpunctata) common in North aceh. Their favorite foods so far are Morning Glory, flowers that bloom in the morning and buds at night.
