Expat What? An Introduction

My name is Daniel Fasco and I'm an expat.

At 32 years of age, I'm currently living in the Philippines with my Filipina wife, Marilyn. That's her below, and she's beautiful not only on the outside, but on the inside as well. I consider her my wife, and she is - except, not by government. Since she's so awesome, we might change that sometime, but only for practical purposes. As an anarcho-capitalist, I have a strong aversion to the concept of marriage licensing and to government in general.

I'm originally from the US - no, the USSA. Miami, FL, to be exact. My move to the Philippines was an easy one; it was sort of impulsive, really. Online dating paved the way, but behind my romantic interest was a love of travel, together with a strong desire to integrate myself into a new culture and learn a new language. As a result, Tagalog is now being added to my linguistic repertoire of English and Cuban-style Spanish. I'd also like to learn Ilokano and Cebuano (two other Filipino languages), but my wife only speaks English and Tagalog.

When I first found out about Steemit, I wanted to share my experiences in the Philippines with other...Steemers? I also wanted to talk about international and online dating, moving abroad, etc., but only in passing. Upon signing up, however, my desire to present a well-rounded picture of my journey as an expat had given way to the more focused niche of international dating and relationships. The name Expat Love seemed appropriate.

Excited to begin, I signed up and was happy to secure the name for myself: Expat Love. "Hell," I thought. "I'll even start a separate blog for Expat Love, giving it its own domain name." Imagine my surprise when, searching to see if a .com was available, I discovered that it was taken by a dating website featuring Thai ladyboys.

Well, I'm using the name Expat Love...here, at least. I'm an expat, after all, and I'm going to be talking a lot about love. And in keeping with what I originally wanted to do, I'm also going to be sharing a good bit of my journey as I go about my life in the Philippines. Marilyn is a big part of it, and so is the baby we're expecting. (We're 16 weeks pregnant!)

I never thought I'd end up living in Southeast Asia, but here I am. It ain't South Florida - that's for certain - but it's awesome, and I wouldn't have it any other way right now. Whether you're interested in Filipina/international dating or in what life is like as an expat in the Philippine islands, follow along and enjoy the ride as I steem my way through here. I'm lookin' forward to it, as I get to share my own life, my own mind, and my own heart with lots...of expat love.
