ျမန္မာတို႔တြင္ စကားထာဝွက္ေသာ အေလ့႐ွိ၏။ မိမိခ်စ္သူအခ်င္းခ်င္း ေတြ႔႐ွိေသာအခါ ခ်စ္စကား ႀကိဳက္စကားမ်ား ေျပာေလ့မ႐ွိ။ ထိုသို႔ေျပာဆိုျခင္းကို ႐ွက္စရာဟု သေဘာထားၾက၏။ ခ်စ္စကား ႀကိဳက္စကား ေျပာလုိလ်ွင္လည္း စကားထာႏွင့္ ေစာင္းပါးရိပ္ေခ်သာ ေျပာၾကသည္။ မိန္းကေလးႏွင့္္ ေယာက်္ားေလးတို႔သည္ သုံးႏွစ္သုံးမိုး အျပန္အလွန္ အကဲခတ္၍ အျပစ္အနာအဆာ မေတြ႔ေတာ့မွပင္ လက္ထပ္ရန္ ဆုံးျဖတ္ၾကသည္။
Having confirmed the marriage, parents of boy's side go to the home of girl and ask to give their daughter in marriage to their son. That kind of ceremony is called engagement.
လက္ထပ္မည္ဟု ဆိုပါက ေယာက်္ားေလးဘက္ မိဘမ်ားက မိန္းကေလး၏ မိဘမ်ားထံ လာေရာက္ေတာင္းခံရသည္။ ယင္းအခမ္းအနားကို ေစ့စပ္ေၾကာင္းလမ္းေသာ အခမ္းအနားဟုေခၚသည္။
