Construction of Building Foundation

Well foundation is an intermediate form between shallow foundation and pile foundation. This foundation is used if the subgrade is located at a relatively deep depth. Type of deep foundation which is casted in place using concrete components and split stone as its filler. Here the foundation of the well serves as an intermediary to move the burden of the building located on it to a solid foundation (subgrade which has a large carrying capacity). These wells stand vertically and can be made from concrete (buis) rings known in trade as building concrete pipes (culverts), which are arranged vertically one by one until they reach a certain depth and inside the pipe then filled with sand or cyclopic concrete.

After the first concrete pipe is installed in the actual place, then the soil in the pipe is removed while the concrete pipe is lowered slowly. Such work is repeated by placing the second concrete pipe above the first concrete pipe and so on until it reaches the depth of the well as planned. If there are disturbances caused by ground water, then to excavate the excavated land contained in the well pipe can be done by dredging. Cyclic concrete casting in well water is carried out using a pouring funnel (tremi), while the amount of water in the well can be reduced by pumping before the casting work begins.

The construction of a wells foundation can be carried out if the drainage of groundwater in a well is not able to be carried out by a sand pump because the sand is easily compacted by flooding with water, while for buildings that are large enough, the filler can be used in concrete. Times stone material on cyclop concrete is intended to save costs.
