One unit of medium tank made by PT Pindad immune exploded. Tanks are still intact despite being exploded using TNT explosive materials.
The blasting process was carried out by PT Pindad at Pussenarmed Shoot Field, Batujajar, West Bandung Regency, Thursday (7/12/2018). The test is part of the completion of the joint production contract Tank Medium Pindad with the Ministry of Defense.
The tanks were blown up by planting 8 kilograms of TNT under hull and 10 kilograms of TNT on a mine track. To simulate the crew of a vehicle, a special mannequin (crush test dummy) equipped with sensors to measure the damage of the explosion, so that the amount of injury to personnel in it can be known.
After being detonated, the medium tanks under development of Turkish Pindad and FNSS are still intact. There are only a few components on the wheel that suffered minor damage.
"This mine explosion test is the first in Indonesia conducted on medium tank products," said PT Pindad president director Abraham Mose in a release received by AFP.
Abraham said the test was conducted as a means of providing comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the design and testing of combat protection against international demining of mines according to STANAG 4569.
"The tests are also carried out to verify the designs according to the level of mine protection established by the Army and test the vehicle's ability to protect the crew of vehicles from standard mine threats, so that the crew does not suffer any injuries or fatal injuries that result in death," he said.
The medium tank is a government program that includes the 7 strategic development of the Ministry of Defense to enhance the ability of BUMNIS in order to compete with foreign defense industry.
This new generation medium tank is equipped with extensive protection capabilities, from close-up protection to infantry troops to combat-battle combat vehicles.
The Pindad medium tank has a 32-ton combat weight, 711 HP engine power with automatic transmission, maximum speed of 70 km / h, can accommodate 3 crew, consisting of commander, shooter and driver, and has a 105 mm caliber turret main weapon with power crushed big.
The medium tank is equipped with the latest technologies, such as self-awareness system, hunter killer system, passive protection warning system (laser warning system), battle management system, and high ballistic protection.
The medium turret turbo has an autoloader mechanism with 12 bullets in the turret and 26 rounds in the hull.
