Matrix (film)

In 1994, the Wachowski introduced the Assassins script to the Warner. The then president of the production, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, reads the script and buys the rights, as well as those of two other Wachowski scenarios: Bound and Matrix. Following the critical success of Bound, Lana and Lilly's first directing, they managed to mount the Matrix project.

Producer Joel Silver came to Warner Studios to produce the first installment of Matrix, which they agreed to fund only on the basis of an exclusive distribution agreement [ref. desired] with his production company Silver Pictures. In addition, Matrix was originally planned as a trilogy they agreed to consider producing two suites [ref. desired] for video if successful.
