White Throated Kingfisher - Halycon smyrnensis

Repost from A hungry White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis) decides to try some fancy french cuisine. This morning I was walking down a path when a blue and brown blur flashed past me into the tree thickets. I did not make much of it since these kingfishers are pretty common yet rather than flying far away it is landed on a nearby branch. It was then that I noticed the frog in its mouth. The poor frog was not moving so I suspect it had been incapacitated prior to me accidentally flushing the cranky kingfisher. I spent around 10 minutes observing the bird move around and hold on to the meal, I also learned during this time that they can still vocalize and communicate to have to hold on to their prey items. Soon I bid him adieu so he can enjoy his five star meal in peace. __________________________________
