The raining season in Benin Metropolis always comes with a big blow of erosion. This is as a result of the lack of proper draining system to channel the water away to a place where it will not be a problem to our homes and streets. This problem is always the management of the existing drainages as they are now mostly filled with plastics, sand and have become dumps for refuse, both household waste and metropolitan waste.
Of recent, the contract to desilt some selected areas in Benin Town was awarded. The contract is to cover from Five Junction to Uniben Campus. Workly closely with the contractor, here are some pictures from the start of the job.
We must endeavour to keep our environment clean. This shouldnt be just a function, it should be our lifestyle. We must ensure that we do not litter our drainages to cause harm go our lives and that of our city. A clean environment is possible.
