I needed to go round Indexpro International Engineering services here in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where I work. I wanna show you few equipment and our job.
- Here, we have the newly fabricated dredger. A dredger is used in pumping sand from sea bed to the shore. This is a 40x20 ft dredger that can produce about 2 tons of sand per hour.
- Here we have our newly fabricated grillage, yet to be painted but it's coated. This is attached to ship as a load carrier for containers.
- Here you can see our gas racks with gas cylinders stocked inside. Two gases are used: acetylene and oxygen. A combination of acetylene and oxygen is used in cutting steel materials to any desired sizes. The fire from acetylene produce heat of over 1000 degree Celsius, which melt the steel materials, while the oxygen blows out the particles, thus producing a nice cut. The metals are marked with chalk according to the desired size from drawing before the cutting.
- Then we have our welding machines. Used in welding different joints of metals. It could be fillet joints, butt etc.
- We have our big pipes here. Based on material content, pipes can be used for transportation of crude products or gases.
- Finally, here's our material area. Every material for fabrication or construction are kept here, except the pipes that we keep in a more spacious place.
