ART EXPLOSION WEEK 46: Venetian Mask

The drawing shown below is a Venetian Mask showing a beautiful peacock that is part of the same mask, were many hours that I devoted to this drawing since it has infinite details, is a tattoo style drawing, It was made on cardboard with ink pen.

Venetian Mask

The masks of Venice are one of the most representative symbols of this Italian city and its tradition spans several centuries. The masks are worn during the Carnivals of Venice, they are intended to hide the identity and social status of those who wear them. This article offers a brief historical review and details the types of Venetian masks that exist.

PROCESS

Step 1: I start drawing with the pencil all the mask, it was a very complicated and late process, but it was necessary to make every detail and then begin to trace with the ink pen.

Step 2: Once the silhouette is finished, with the pencil I decide to start tracing with the ink pen from the easiest to the most complicated.

Step 3: I finish all the mask that is on the face, I continue with the peacock which is what took me the longest in the whole drawing.

Step 4: I trace each eye of the peacock's tail, so I can identify each one to start making each feather.

Final: I finish all the feathers, respecting the light and the shadow, so that it has a nice shine effect. I check the whole drawing and give the last touches by erasing some lines left by the pencil.
