HALF TRUST

"Don't trust anyone too much because everyone changes when they meet new people."
This phrase could be said to be idiomatic, proverbial or even a figurative of expression. I am less concerned about the category or the figure of speech you could say it belongs to: at least we could use individual's judgement as regards that yardstick.

This phrase had me confused and at the same time scared. "Don't trust anyone too much" being the confusing part. In most of our life existence we have always been told that too much of everything is dangerous e.g don't drink too much for those who drink, so you don't get drunk, don't smoke too much for those who smoke and do not talk too much for those who loves to talk: as the fish only gets caught when it opens its mouth. Does too much applies to trust? because like its meaning it's either you trust someone or something or you do not trust at all. I doubt if there is anything as half trust or quarter trust.

The second part that got me scared is "everyone changes when they meet new people." We have seen quite a number of relationships fail not because they wanted it to fail but because of lack of trust. The world was designed for co-existence. In other words we meet new people everyday: at work, on the street, in the banks, every public places and even at the church. So if you don't trust your partner or friend enough that he or she will not forget you when he or she meets someone new, then it is your problem and not your partner's and you are not worthy to be in the relationship. On the other hand, for those who manage long distant relationship, same thing applies. If both parties trust each other, no matter who they meet along their sojourn in life, there will be no course for worry. To be honest, no such thing as half trust. Trust is trust neither is there anything as trusting too much, it's either you trust or you don't trust. With another popular saying echoing." don't trust anyone too much because that too much can hurt you so much". This is also a wrong expression because you can only chose to trust or not to trust, you can't chose to not trust too much.trust.jpg
