Nine years ago, there was only one percent of the rate of technical education in the state, due to proper planning and practical initiative, he reached 15 percent today. By 2020, the plan to bring the technical student rate to 20 percent is planned.Under the Technical Education Board, there are a total of 50 polytechnic and monotechnic institutes for diploma engineering education and six textile institutes and one survey institute.

There are 64 technical schools and colleges for SSC and HSC level education.Besides, 38 technical training centers, 40 textile vocational colleges and 13 agricultural training institutes have been established for vocational education. More than 4,000 private educational institutions have been established in Bangladesh to promote technical and vocational education.

National Skill Development Policy-2011 has been formulated for technical students. Apart from this, five projects have been started to ensure quality education in joint venture with different development organizations. Efforts have been taken to provide skill based training instead of traditional. Special education has been taken in education policy for the development of technical education. Apart from this, the education policy included various issues of technical education in primary schools. The technical education board is thinking of setting up a technical university. In collaboration with the World Bank, projects for stipend of more than half a million students in technical education sector have been taken up. Project of 534 crores has been taken for the development of private 30 technical schools.
