EA Sports defends its model of loot boxes: "it is sustainable"

The company dismisses the accusation of promoting gambling.

Daryl Holt , Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of EA Sports , has defended the sustainability of the current model of loot boxes of the company in its sports aspect. In addition, has ruled out completely that it is gambling as they have warned from different countries, such as Belgium and Holland.

"You know perfectly well that you are obtaining, the user is offered information about the assets that he is buying, we are not dealing with a bet, we provide the probabilities that these or other elements may appear in the pack, and there is no monetary value of none of the assets in the real world, "said the executive in a talk collected by the specialized portal Game Industry.

On game modes such as FIFA 18: Ultimate Team , Daryl Holt explained that players are given the opportunity to decide how they want to compete. "You can win anything in FUT simply by playing at any level, and I can also defeat you if you have a better rated team simply by playing better for FIFA," he explained, trying to differentiate it well from the controversy surrounding Battlefront.

However, as we have stated in the news, the matter of the booty chests is far from resolved and from some countries, including recently Australia , research commissions on the subject are being promoted.
