There are moments in life when you wish you could stop time. Capturing them in a photo might make it seem like you've succeeded. But as time passes, you realize that you can no longer return to those moments where these memories were made. This is how I feel about the picturesque corner of Kherson Oblast — the village of Lazurne, which is currently under Russian occupation.
Lazurne is located near one of Ukraine's most unique natural wonders — Dzharylhach Island. It’s the largest uninhabited island in Ukraine and Europe, covering an area of 56 km². Its wild expanses hide many secrets, legends, and stories that transport you into a world of ancient tales, a place where nature remains almost untouched.
What makes Dzharylhach truly captivating is that near it lies a populated area, the village of Lazurne, which has always attracted beach lovers. It’s a true paradise for those seeking to connect with nature. Lazurne is famous not only for its sea but also for its rich marine life. On warm evenings at sunset, you can often see dolphins frolicking near the shore, glimmering in the sunset’s rays.
Now, all of this feels distant and almost unreal due to the tragic circumstances that have befallen this region. However, the memories of this place remain vivid. I believe that one day I will be able to return to Lazurne and once again witness this incredible corner of nature, hear the splash of the waves, and watch the dolphins joyfully playing in the warm sea. Lazurne will always be a place of strength, a place where time seems to stand still, and where the soul finds peace.
Dzharylhach Island and Lazurne are not just spots on a map; they symbolize hope for restoration, a return to normal life, and the revival of the beauty of our country.
