Embracing the Spirit of New Beginnings

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the most significant festivals in India, celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. It marks the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. However, beyond its mythological roots, Dussehra carries a deeper message that is relevant even today—the spirit of renewal, self-transformation, and new beginnings.

The Story of Dussehra

The origins of Dussehra Wishes are steeped in the Ramayana, one of India’s most revered epics. The story tells of how Lord Rama, with the help of his devoted brother Lakshmana, loyal follower Hanuman, and a vast army of monkeys, waged war against Ravana to rescue his wife, Sita. After a fierce battle, Rama successfully defeated Ravana, symbolizing the victory of righteousness over deception, good over evil.

This legendary tale is re-enacted across the country during Ramlila performances, culminating in the burning of effigies of Ravana, signifying the destruction of evil forces. Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the Navratri festival, following nine days of worship dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. The day signifies victory and renewal, where people come together to reaffirm their faith in justice and virtue.
