VLOG 45: A GIFT FOR MY FATHER

For my father's nameday, I gave him a watercolor illustration of a retro Volvo 1800 - a car he'd love to get some day.
My father is a very kind and generous man. He has been a busy bee all his life, working, providing for his family, and making our house a home. Although he must face some difficulties in life at the moment, I love that he can still retain his optimism. He enjoys working in the garden, in the open air, and most of all - he loves cars, especially antiques. He owns two Soviet cars, but this one - Volvo P1800 (only, the wagon version) - is his dream.
Hopefully, the lovely-looking car won't be a mirage anymore, and one day this painting becomes a reality.

Although I still have to improve my technical drawing abilities, I think it was a good practice, given that I don't typically paint cars. Watercolours are not my favourite type of medium either, but I think this technique gives a good understanding of how to create light and shadows, playing not with a pigment, but with the opacity of the color. I particularly loved the color palette: soft, aquatic pastels combined with luscious red. And, quite untypical of me, I was satisfied with the watercolour-y look of the outcome.

This made me feel as if I was in childhood again, a throwback to the days when we were doodling houses, cars, and the sun in one corner for our parents!

My dad really enjoys the gift, and let's hope that with Steemit & Dtube, one day I'll be able to help him make his dream true!

Thanks for watching! ❤️
