Deafheaven is an amercian metal band formed in 2010 in San Francisco. Deafheaven's musical style can be described as blackgaze, a fusion genre combining elements of black metal and shoegazing. After their first album, Roads to Judah (2011), the band released Sunbather in 2013. Some elements like omnipresence of blasts, wailing voice volontarily saturated, are typical of a black metal style but other elements like melancholia and the contemplative aspect of the music differentiate this album from the traditional black metal genre.
