Mary Backer Eddy is the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, and she established the Church of Christian Science. Mary Backer Eddy library was opened in 2002, it contains original materials of Eddy’s life and the history of the church. And there is a world-famous Mapparium in the Library!
What’s Mapparium?
- It’s a 30-foot, stained-glass globe. It was constructed in the early 1930s. Brilliant colors and lights highlight geopolitical shifts over the past century!
I was so impressed by the Mapparium! I felt I was standing on a small earth and you can hear everyone’s voice inside the Mapparium. Unfortunately, I could not take video inside. If you get chance to visit this library, I strongly recommend the Mapparium!
