time to replace your addiction to adsense!

Photo by Mathew MacQuarrie on Unsplash

Google has you on the main line hook, the big promise of advertisers and money paid to your bank account once a month, that’s right, they sit on that advertiser money and give you a little slice based on stats and analytics that that is closed code, basically your sucking at the teet of the google machine — don’t get me wrong i love google in many ways in what they have done for search and mapping but at times you just know you’ve been giving your data and having it sold to the highest bidder elsewhere. You’ve been bought and your apathy to sort your own income streams means you are connected to the google mainline with no control of the when or the how.

Even worse, around you all the channels that came up at the same time as you are either shutting down or getting strikes for a variety of reasons depending on how good the chai latte is in the marketing department that morning (well, maybe) it’s not all doom and gloom thou, it’s helped you over the years, you have hundreds, thousands or even millions of people following you on the YouTube platform right, you have their emails right? ERM, yeah about that..

Regardless, if you are one of those people who is feeling it might be crunch time on Adsense and ‘just keeping going’ because you don’t believe you have other options let me stop you and tell you that you have! Right now, today, you can take back the governance on your media and how you bring in value for the work you put out.

your digital income is changing rapidly

Photo by Ross Findon on Unsplash

Finding it harder to make the same kind of income you once did on YouTube or your other income streams? Scrambling to find solutions? Needing to adapt to change and you keep hearing about crypto but are scared of the hacking horror stories and mega volatility? It’s all true, but then again surfing the tsunami edge of evolution of the whole monetary global economy will always have a few bumps and scrapes along the road!

The bottom line is that the world of centralised platforms ran by corporations is getting harder to manage on a number of levels — from losing quality talent in the company, hacks, marketing decisions and escalating costs to run and keep these services online and innovate. The world is moving to decentralised resource management, shared ownership, spread out, multiple nodes, multiple frontends.

As a content creator you need to move and change with the times, it’s not a case of hoping that these things will change and adapt, it’s about your entry point now into the world of decentralisation — do you want someone to be the middleman to your content and potential income or allow a third party to give you a slice of the top, it’s pseudo sense of financial security versus potential the ability to own your own digital brand in a vast newly developing digital landscape.

time is now to build out your crypto portfolio

There literally has never been a better start than today.

Sure, altcoins and bitcoin slide up and down faster than a mixing desk at a concert but it’s still at a pricing point where the average Joe can get ‘skin in the game’ and let that portfolio sit and rise with inflation each year — answer me this, can you keep paying out each year to upgrade your equipment to stay relevant in your industry without sponsors?

Imagine if the work you did (and for other brands) was around a community that you had some level of control over, if you were your own investment in your own brand, value in, stored, hustle your face off each day until the price of your stock, the stock of you, with your token went up — pretty fucking nice feeling to every year take a slice of the top of your profits to upgrade all your kit to have the latest gear to be competitive in this evolving digital content creator marketplace (and it really is that, if your an influencer)

decentralised advocacy will be faster, easier on payout + investing

How does every seven days sound like? Sounds a hell of a lot better than waiting a whole money to be able to flex with your google adsense payment right? Not only that, your crypto is fast, all those issues and complications you might have with sending/receiving and waiting?! (Where does it go?!) you don’t have that with crypto platforms, you don’t get overdrawn letters in the post or a phone call asking you to go for a ‘chat’ with the bank manager.

In fact I’d go as far as to say that in the last three years of playing around with blockchain technology I’ve become more aware, accountable and in touch with my financial needs instead of roller coasting from one month to the next, I’m sure a lot of ‘digital creators’ have the same issue (heck, everyone!)

The main take away for me thou with the notion of decentralised advocacy is the fact that you can actively consider investing your time and money in a different way — one that does not involve a third party or middleman where you might normally lose control or have additional stress to take you away from doing your best work.

Steem power ‘having skin in the game’ made me realise massively how a blockchain with inflation could make the average fiat saving plan look plain and basic, it’s a different way that you might be accustomed too but with a mature platform of three years and good crypto key security you pretty much become the bank of you.

I’ve not even started on tokenomics and how taking part in the various communities on the steem blockchain can open you up to work, friendships and jobs on chain.

your reviewhunt profile can make you platform agnostic in time

Photo by Nik Shuliahin on Unsplash

Review.hunt.town is the second platform from the @steemhunt team, it’s launching this month and it’s going to have quite the impact when it drops, I don’t think people realise this yet but they soon will in the same way as when steemhunt first arrived — one thing i know for sure, your review hunt profile could become your business card to decentralised brand advocacy.

One of the difficult things when you are a content creator or website owner is keeping your own stuff up to date, you can literally wake up and be working on a new video, for a brand or personal about something going on in your unique niche — it’s hard to remember to actively promote yourself and the work that you put out.

With reviewhunt, just working on the platform and delivering on the quests will mean over time that your work rate, clients and output are links and scored, you’ll also track the funds you made as well — at a glance potential future brands can see your reputation instead of hoping for the best that you will deliver on what you say.

This is a massive plus point for brands wanting to get the best bottle line return on investment in marketing with you as a content creator.

youtube will never help you crowdfund your product dreams

Photo by TK Hammonds on Unsplash

When was the last time Youtube helped you launch a product? Alright, maybe your peak design or one of those steady cam dudes — I get it, you have a following and you flipped your traffic towards a campaign... but what if i told you that in Q4 we will have our own crowdfunding platform, ideahunt that will utilise the same HUNT token (erc-20) crypto currency token as what you can earn on steemhunt and reviewhunt — that really starts to open things up!

help in onboarding your favourite brands here

Photo by Andrew Trius on Unsplash

You can help shape this future, it’s not all set and done and locked into place, you can bring clients here, you can educate and tell your favourite brands about it, we can assist you in building a pack to inform and educate them about crypto currency and tokenomics which could open their social media strategy like never before — instead of the price of one or two influencers you could be opening yourself up to the world of hundreds of bits of content and feedback from a global audience of brand advocates, each will different needs from your product.

build your own youtube with steem engine + d.tube

Photo by Randy Fath on Unsplash

And now the cherry on the top of the cake, now, today, you can build out a frontend just like steemit, busy, steempeak for your own community — we already have a handful of these communities forming with their own look and feel frontend, token and niche community — that could be you!

Love cameras, love video, love snakes, love slime — whatever you are niche in today on Youtube you could be the decentralised community for it and if you are first then you’ll have first mover advantage when the exodus of youtubers happens — and trust me, it will happen.

the future is tokenomics (your time + investment)

Photo by ZSun Fu on Unsplash

My first port of call I’d say for the average content creator is to start to educate yourself about tokens and tokenomics and how they are going to change the ‘portfolio’ of assets today and in the future — we are already seeing a number of art galleries, banking sector and energy partners building tokens into their products — it’s going to be one future of assets and paying for a remote audiences attention and having virtual ownership and a share of assets mathematically.

we have 107 companies wanting to spend $700k

Month one is going to be a huge month for reviewhunt, I expect the site to crash with the load, I expect lots of quests to be completed and people put in long hours to get access to the massive amount of marketing spend we will see, i expect quests to be set from companies to provide them real value to their marketing efforts and brand advocates and influencers outreach — you can be part of it, from ground zero and up.

So might only question is this...

... when ya gonna get started?

pinterest epic wins pinboard → brand advocate for nokia, 1000heads, verisign → won vloggie for node666 (san fran 2006) → television for time team history hunters 1999 → sold me.dm to evan williams in april 2011 → went to phil campbell, alabama to help raise money after tornado (was on sky news, bbc news)→ CNN for sxsw 2013 about austin sxsw → video chat with robert scoblemusic video can you spot me?
