Sorry for the shaky video!
I get headaches all of the time. It is something I have struggled with since I was in elementary school. Since I cannot prevent all headaches, I have learned 5 simple steps to help relieve a headache after one has started.
- Rehydrate
Stress and dehydration are two causes of headaches for me. I usually do a good job drinking water throughout the day, but not always.
If a headache starts, I start siping water. Everyone in our family has a favorite cup. My is an Ozark Mountain 30 oz Tumbler. Keeps the water and nice and cold. How I like it when I have a headache!

- Essential Oil
I thought my wife was crazy when she first wanted to start using essential oils. Now I am a believer!
Peppermint Essential Oil is best for tension headaches.
Lavender Essential Oil is best for migraines.
Amazon sells Now Essential Oils (the brand I currently use):

- Cold Compress
Use a cold compress or a bag of peas. Wrap it in a tea towel so that you can feel the cold, but not freeze your skin.
Amazon has a wide selection of cold compresses. I do not have a particular suggestion: https://amzn.to/2ULfyfA
- Get Away From Harsh Lighting
Office lighting and extremely bright lights can trigger a headache for me. When I get in a dimly lit area, I can manage my headache better as I am working on the previously mentioned steps.
- Find A Quiet Place
That is hard to do at work or at home. When I have a headache, I move to a room that is quiet and start some white noise (usually from a small oscillating fan).
When all else fails, I take some headache medication and go to bed.
