I'm Ethan Smith, and this is the STEEM Engine Express.

We begin today with a lovely sketch by Passenger @kymio, who has been sharing various sketches as part of the Rhamadan Sketch Challenge. This sketch, entitled, "Water City," is a picturesque image featuring a grand-looking city with futuristic tones, and of course, features water prominently. If you're interested in sketching or entering the challenge yourself, check out this blog not only for the finished product, but also for a time lapse video of the sketch. You won't be disappointed.

Ask almost anyone on Steemit, and they'll tell you Facebook is the antithesis of a decentralized platform. But are there possible advantages for using Facebook in order to share your Steemit ventures? Passenger @steemflow sets out to answer this question using a personal experience from a while ago. Considering that there are many Facebook groups for Steemians, if you still use both platforms regularly, you may want to check out the opportunities. Be sure to read the conclusions that @steemflow arrived at and leave your comments if you have any thoughts or suggestions!

As ubiquitous as the Microsoft Office suite is across businesses and universities, the high cost of Office is often a barrier that many individuals are unwilling to accommodate. Never fear, though, as STEEM Engine passenger @yandot has shared a blog this week about the top free alternatives to Microsoft Office. If you've ever been curious about what other options are available, be sure to check out this post, and perhaps you'll be creating documents and spreadsheets in no time.

@bigtom13 makes a big declaration when he declared himself a "Legendary foodie" this week, but by the end of the post, you may not doubt his cooking skills at all. Head over to his most recent blog, where you'll find a step-by-step guide to making chicken stir fry. Featuring fresh local chicken breasts, red onion, asparagus, and peppers, this dish will have your mouth watering by the end of the blog post. So if you're in need of a new recipe to try and need a legendary foodie to show you how, look no further than @bigtom13's blog!

Finally today, we travel with Passenger @supernovastaffy to several locations in Thailand! This travel blog features all you could want to know about the sun, swimming, and snorkeling in Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, and Bamboo Island, and includes many great photos of the adventure. So if you're planning a vacation, or simply need to imagine you're on an exotic beach somewhere, head over to this blog and let @supernovastaffy know what you think! You never know where you might end up traveling next!

That's all for today's curation segment, so let's head down the tracks to today's Featured Station. New users on Steemit often face an uphill battle, especially with all of the technical knowledge and new vocabulary necessary to get started. That's why Passenger @dreemsteem has helped found The Welcome Wagon (@welcomewagon), an initiative dedicated to helping new users get started properly! Members of The Welcome Wagon scour posts from new users, looking for accounts they believe could use some guidance, and then provide those accounts with resources to help them be successful! If you're interested in learning more, head over to their Steemit account @thewelcomewagon to see how you can get involved!

The STEEM Engine Express features five of the best posts curated by the STEEM Engine each week across the Steemit platform. The Express is produced by Ethan D. Smith exclusively for The STEEM Engine initiative on Steemit.com, and is featured throughout the week on the SteemStar.net radio network.

That's all for this week's episode! To read posts mentioned in today's Express or to listen to past episodes, visit steemit.com/@ethandsmith. I hope you'll catch the next Express!
