If this has happened or is going to happen, it'll be another huge step to ending the war on drugs. This will not only save lives, but improve lives of those who are addicted to certain substances by treatment and it will reduce the use of these hard, dangerous drugs that are sold on the streets.
It might not fully be effective, but small amounts of these substances will not give out very harsh punishments. In the later future, I'm sure drug laws will improve in America, just like in Portugal. Society will improve the more these types of things happen too.
