Happy 100th b'day Madiba.
.
Well as you all are aware..I shared a photograph of a Siberian Husky that was in gurgaon, who's coat was trimmed by his owner who must be thinking that it will help him cool down in these extremely hot summers of India.
But this is the biggest mistake one can make. .
Unlike humans, dogs do not sweat and release heat from their skin. Dogs cool themselves primarily from panting and secondly from the pads of their paws, which are the only part of a dog's body that sweats.
.
These majestic creatures have 2 coats. The undercoat is soft and warm and the outer coat which is harder and silky. The outer coat is what stays in the summers as the undercoat is shedded. .
The outer coat acts as an air conditioner as it traps air and shades the sensitive skin from harsh UV rays. .
Not only will your husky be hotter by clipping off itโ€™s coat, you would be taking away the only thing that is protecting it from sunburns. A huskies skin is sensitive to the sun and would burn easily if exposed. All that thick fur on your dog is keeping it cool and protecting it from the sun. Most Siberian huskies with long coats will take the heat better than a short haired dog because it is actually cooler with the long hair. .
.
Just general awareness guys.
Thank you for reading.
Have a great day ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
