Diabetes mellitus is a disorder resulting from a defect in insulin secretion or both. Insulin deficiency in turn lead to hyperglycemia with disturbance of carbohydrate.

As the disease progress tissue or vascular damage ensues leading to severe diabetic complication such as retinopathay, neuropathy, nephropathy, cardiovascular complication and ulceration.
