Ortu Duzzi, Fishermen's House in Bonifacio

The will of the architects has been to extend the technical program of the boxes for fishermen, by a device of public spaces allowing to valorise and observe the profession of fisherman (public spaces in continuity boxes in the DRC, landscaped esplanade in R + 1 and the creation of a sale stand for the day's fishing).

Following the exchanges between the architects and the client, the program was enriched by offices for SNSM and prud'homie as well as a communal multipurpose room. More than just a fishing vessel, the Ortu Duzzi tells a new story of the city and becomes a hybrid building, supporting endemic gardens, materials and encounters.

Ortu Duzzi, which means "the gardens where fresh water flows", is the site chosen to offer a real place of life to those who continue to tell a part of the history of this town: fishermen. The edifice follows the curves of the cliff and the extent of its entire length on the plot. It uses all the space allocated and generates an urban as well as an architectural project.

The prud'homie opens up to the life of the city by sparing between its blocks external spaces, in continuity with the public space. Thus, repairing nets, selling screaming, reinvesting the quays and animating the banks. Leaning against the cliff, the building unleashes a forecourt in front of it, conceived as a place of abyss of these formerly wild practices.

Consisting of horizontal blades, the sun breezes enliven the facades, giving them a kinetic effect. The naval vocabulary, introduced by the wooden elements, gives the floor the appearance of a bridge. In the upper part, the vegetation has resumed its rights. The floor is designed as a veritable belvedere planted with essences from the Bonifacian plateau. As suspended, the esplanade offers prud'homie a place of conviviality and sharing.
