Dental implants are considered the best way to restore missing teeth. They provide an excellent replacement for natural teeth and stop the process of bone marrow loss, which is a usual problem when you lose your own teeth. They are extremely endurable, if you stick to your doctor’s recommendations.
Still, this procedure has its restrictions and contraindications. Not all the patient can have dental implants according to their health issues. The contraindication can be absolute and conditional. The first ones do not give a patient even a chance to have the implants. In the second case, the implantation is possible when the problems will be solved.
The conditional contraindications are mostly diseases and lifestyle issues. These are dental and periodontal diseases, malocclusion, pregnancy and breastfeeding, bad habits and antipsychotic therapy. The correction of these conditions will allow having implants after a short while.
Among the absolute contraindications are blood diseases, mental and immunity disorders, cancer, connective tissue diseases, diabetes, tuberculosis, problems with chewing muscles and mouth mucosa. If you fall into this category, you should think of another way to restore your teeth. What are your options?
First, it is important, whether the roots of the teeth are left in your mouth. If they are still there, it is possible to set up crowns. If your own teeth are left in the mouth, and the missing ones are one or two in a row, a cosmetic bridge would be your best bet.
In the other cases, dentures is your way out. Removable dentures is the simplest decision, but not the most comfortable one. Still, there are also non-removable ones, which will be much better. Choose the palateless ones – they are more comfortable and require less effort to take care of.
Whatever option you may think of, the decision must not be made without your dentist. Only the doctor can help you choose the best variant according to your individual clinical picture.
