As part of this Financial Independence series, I am going to try to post a monthly check up on our personal finances for a full year. The purpose is to help others improve, while also to help us improve at the same time. I mentioned before, that we don't do budgeting. We very loosely track our spending. In this way, we will be able to see at the end of the year, how much we spent. So here is September 2018.
962.35 included food, household items, pet items, birthday items for 2 kids, and some new clothes
535.57 is fuel, which is always a lot, but this is more than usual
595.25 is miscellaneous, which this month included building supplies to insulate our shop, a school trip for 2 kids, and soccer fees for 2 kids
351.09 phone bills for 4 phones, which were extra due to getting 3 new phones this month, working on lowering our phone bill for the future
51.98 internet bill
121.00 medical/prescriptions/dentist
13.99 netflix
117.57 eating out
70.82 power
180.88 car insurance, which includes some insurances we no longer need, so will lower that bill asap
Total $3000.50
I definitely see several areas where we can save and will be working on that.
Have a great day!
Love,
Marie
P.S. Cute photo of our cat included for fun.
Edited to add: At the moment we are a family of 5, with 1 dog, 3 cats, and 15 chickens to feed. One of us has a long commute to work, which is part of the reason the fuel bill is so high.
