DISCUSSION:

The angels were commanded to go and pour out God's wrath. A loud voice from the throne said, "IT IS DONE!" (v. 17). Note that there is coming a judgement on everything that men and women worship today apart from the only true God (John 17:3). These judgements also clearly show the sovereignty of God over all things. It is informative to note the different responses to God's judgements in the passage - the angel (v. 5), men (vs 9, 11) and those under the alter and on whose account the judgment has been inflicted (v. 7, compare 6:9). The ungodly remain unrepentant and still blasphemed the name of God.

In vs 13-16, we see the trinity of evil, Satan (the dragon), the beast and the false prophet. They all marshal their forces to oppose God in preparation for the last great battle between good and evil. Since this day is near, John emphasizes the need for watchfulness on the part of the followers of Christ (v. 15).

So what:

Warn people all around you to desist from evil, and embrace Jesus Christ so as to escape the destruction that comes on the world and all its lovers.
