Cycling pro tip of the day: I just wanted to highlight one of the most useful pieces of gear that I see almost noone else using, and that is the helmet cover:

Your mom always told you to wear a hat because you lose a lot of heat through your head, and she was right.
So you went out and spent a lot of $ (or $$$) on a super ventilated helmet that would stay cool in summer. Well, if you wanna stay warm, and do it with a minimum of extra weight and bulkiness, you can't beat the lowly helmet cover:
- Super easy to remove with one hand
- Takes up minimal space in your jersey pocket
- Easy to put back on when it's time to head downhill
- Doesn't feel bulky or stuffy like an extra layer on your core or, heaven forbid, full length tights over your Assos bib shorts.
I mean what's not to love. I use mine year round when I want a little extra warmth at the start of an early morning ride. And always in winter when it's chilly enough for leg warmers or a long sleeve jersey + jacket.
Give it a try, you will thank me.
