When Curie clicks that upvote button, your post rewards go flying :)

This application is for those who are interested in becoming a Curie curator. Curie is a community witness that discovers and rewards promising new authors with exceptional posts who has been persistent without much success. Curie also empowers quality curators, rewards and encourages quality curation. Those who are new to Curie please visit @curie blog and visit us in a #curie channel at steemit.chat to find out more about awesome qualities of Curie.

Currently, the only way to become a Curie curator is via recommendation program. Top curators can recommend new curators. List of top curators changes every week based on the scores. Any curator can become a top curator. List of top curators is announced every Sunday in #curie channel. Curie publishes Weekly Update posts on Sundays. In that post, there is a leaderboard that shows curators with their scores for the week. Every top curator has their own methodology in mentoring and recommending new curators.

How does Curie work?

When curators find an exceptional post that fits Curie guidelines they submit it to www.curiesteem.com for a review. Then reviewers review the post and determine whether to approve or disapprove the submission. If the submission is approved that post receives a generous Curie upvote and that approval is counted towards curator's Curation Score. Curators will receive a finder's fee of 10 Steem for each approved post. If the submission is disapproved, that post will not receive a Curie vote and disapproval will lower curator's Curation Score. There is a formula to calculate the Curation Score:

Curation Score(CS) = Number of Posts Approved x (Approval Rate x Approval Rate)

Approval Rate is equal to the number of posts approved divided by the total number of submissions. For example, if I submitted 4 posts, 3 of them got approved and 1 got disapproved my CS would be 1.68

CS = 3 x 3/4 x 3/4

Maintaining high Approval Rate is very important. Because a single approval can lower CS significantly. Curators who cannot maintain minimum CS score may be disqualified. On the other hand curators with higher score and approval rate may become top curators. Also, CS determines the number of posts curators can submit for that week.

Curie Guidelines for submitting posts

  1. New and verified authors only, who have been persistent without much success. Brand new authors who have one or two posts without verification do not qualify. General guideline for "new author" would be between 27 Reputation and 56 Reputation.
  2. Posts must be more than 150 minutes old, but less than 24 hours, with maximum $1 pending payout.
  3. Author must not have earned more than $25 on a single post in the last 7 days.
  4. Only original content. Articles, art, poetry, videos, recipes, etc. that appear first on Steemit. (I.e. no reposts of older work) Please check for plagiarism and reposting before submitting. Content must be exceptional and unique.
  5. No Steemit-related, religious, introduceyourself or political posts.
  6. Submission limits are dictated by curator's performance the previous week, according to these tiers (the numbers below are weekly limits) -
    CS =>7, AR =>90 - Unlimited submissions [Those with unlimited submissions will be required to maintain at least a 75% approval rate at all times, mid-week. Min time limit for top curators is 45 minutes.]
    There is a limit of top 7 curators with highest CS that can get unlimited submissions.
    CS =>2 to <7, AR =>75 - 15 submissions
    CS =>0.25 to <2 and new curators - 2 submissions
    CS >0 to <0.25 - 1 submission (perpetual)
    CS = 0; =>2 submissions - 0 submissions (perpetual)
    Cumulative CS >200, AR >95 over 6 months earns a direct follow from @curie.
  7. English posts only.

These guidelines change from time to time. Please visit #curie channel and read the pinned posts for the up-to-date guidelines.

How to Apply?

Top curators can recommend only one new curator every week. I can only recommend one successful applicant. All applicants are expected to get familiar with curie rules and guidelines. Again, most recent rules, guidelines, and announcements are in the #curie channel. Please check the pinned posts.

To apply candidates must find exceptional posts that fit Curie guidelines and leave them here in the comments section. Idea is to show me that you understand Curie guidelines and can indeed find exceptional posts. Successful candidates will be invited to the #librarian channel for mentorship. During mentorship process, candidates will continue finding exceptional posts and will be dropping them in the #librarian channel for review. Those who can show that they can constantly find exceptional posts and avoid submitting posts that may be disapproved will be chosen to be recommended.

Do not drop links to your own posts please. That would defeat the purpose of applying to become a curator. Curating is not about promoting your own posts :)

If you still have questions after doing your research, feel free to leave your questions in the comments.

Please vote for @curie as your witness. Let's make Steem work for everybody.
