What is a Creative?

A creative is an artist. Not just a painter or musician or writer... A creative is an individual. They are unique, someone who doesn't quite fit into any box. Some think of creatives as iconoclasts; others see them as rebels.

Goals: Put simply;

  1. Highlight the best creative content & ensure that the authors are paid fairly for their efforts.
  2. Introduce new creatives to Steemit & provide resources to help them understand how things work here.

Why this project is necessary:

Have you ever “won a contest” on Steemit to later find out that the organiser was only interested in milking your creativity for selfish profits, leaving you without the rewards you deserve?

  1. I have, multiple times in fact. Most of the contests I didn’t even enter; yet I continually see my content copied, re-uploaded and “Praised”. What do I have to celebrate? My work is being plagiarised, profited from, and I am told to be happy about it! I would like to see the end of this sort of selfish behaviour.

  2. While it’s true that Steemit has the first mover advantage when it comes to a truly decentralized social media site, this advantage may not last forever. The more talented content creators we can collectively bring to this platform the better. The stronger our sense of community is the greater the staying power of this truly unique social space. From what experience I have on Steemit it seems like the best way to grow is to give back to the community as much as humanly possible and to think about money as an afterthought.

How it works:

I want to eventually implement a system wherein there are seven Creatives contests per week, one everyday for a different niche category (be it photography, painting, video editing, sculpting, etc… Whatever there is a demand for within the steemit community. I have some ideas but they need to be refined by feedback from the community.)

The way I plan to run this is by having each competition run by a different Steemian who has an established representation of 60+ (requirements may change) who is able to judge talent in their specific niche while also being talented in their own right.

Each contest host will publish posts relating to their contest on their own personal account, while this account will resteem them all into one place to be easily discovered. As this account grows in steem power the whole thing will become more and more prosperous for everyone involved in the project.

Rewards breakdown:

Contest hosts keep the Steem Power, Contest winners are given ALL the SBD generated by the posts (hosts can split this up however they like; First, second, third, honourable mentions. Up to them.)

How to keep it working:

It could be tempting for a rogue contest host to take the earnings and run, but would they if their reputation was at steak? Tough to say.

This may be wishful thinking on my part, I believe that if one host would take this action then this account and other influential Steemians involved would flag their posts for the greater good, reducing their reputation score. In this case a rogue contest host would only be able to pull this off once before the community kicks back. I will guarantee that the stolen SBD would be returned to the rightful artist(s) in question.

Get noticed:

I will make a full post detailing the tag system @Creatives will use at a later date. But for now and in the future the tag "CreativesChallenge" will act as a place to post your creative content with the title format, using the tag "CreativesChallenge".

Eg.

CreativesChallenge - [Your Creative Outlet] - [Details]
CreativesChallenge - Photography - Photo Journal of My Machu Picchu Trek

The tag also doubles as a source for other Curators to find undiscovered talent.

Get involved:

If you would like to get involved in this project in anyway (regardless of your reputation score) then please feel free to message me on Steemit.chat @Creatives.

If any of you have questions or concerns I look forward to addressing them in the comment section below and over on Steemit.chat Upvotes, Comments, & Resteems greatly appreciated to get this project up and running.
