The popular Telegram messenger, which is used by 180 million people around the world, is planning to launch its own Blockchain
platform and cryptocurrency, media reported, citing its own sources. A platform called "The Open Network" or "Telegram Open Network" (TON) will be based on an enhanced version of the Blockchain. It is assumed that with the help of the application it will be possible to make transactions in messages of the messenger.
The cryptocurrency of the platform, which will be called "Gram", is planned to be integrated with many popular instant messengers, but their list is not yet defined. TON will use light wallets, which saves users from having to load the entire block. The platform will also create smart contracts, which will make it a competitor to Ethereum.
