Google has officially banned all crypto mining chrome extensions on its chrome web store.
In a blog post ,the google extension platform product manager "James Wagner" said that the decision was in response to their analysis of a malicious "cryptojacking" going on in the chrome extensions webstore.
To break this down,cryptojacking simply means that some developers maliciously install cryptomining scripts into non Crypto mining extensions so that unsuspecting users that download the chrome extensions from the webstore will automatically start mining cryptocurrencies in the background without even knowing.
They said that "90%" chrome Crypto mining extension developers are guilty of this as it violates their terms and policies to indulge in such act.
With this being said,Google has made a decision to ban all chrome mining extensions from entering the webstore and also to flush out the existing ones by June this year.
However, with all this events unfolding ,remember google has once made a statement of banning all Crypto related ads on its adword platform starting from June this year. In your own opinion do you think this is a move or a strategic witch-hunt by google to exterminate
