South Korea’s Largest E-Commerce Site Will Integrate 12 Cryptocurrencies

Huge developments out of South Korea as Wemepu, known in English as WeMakePrice, plans to allow customers to pay for orders using 12 cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.

Wemepu is one of South Korea’s largest e-commerce platforms. They plan to execute this new adoption strategy with the help of Bithumb, the country’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. Together the goal is to incorporate cryptocurrencies into Wemepu's current payment architecture OneThePay.

In an interview with South Korean mainstream media outlet HanKyoReh, a WeMakePrice spokesperson stated:

“Integrating cryptocurrencies is a part of our initiative to make payments more convenient for our consumers and clients. We consider mobile fintech apps, points, and cryptocurrencies as efficient payment methods.”

WeMakePrice is taking the lead as being the first major e-commerce platform or retailer to have decided to offer cryptocurrencies as a primary payment option to users. It is a major move and shows how far cryptos have come since their inception less than ten years ago. Many champion the move, saying it is a step in the right direction and that it displays the real world applicability of digital currencies in the wider society.
