Before Zilliqa there were a lot of blockchain infrastructure projects on which developers were developing their applications but as the demand and usages of these applications increased, load on the plaforms on which they were built upon increased significantly and with this scalability isssues started to pop up because of the mere fact that these platforms were not being able to meet the required transactional speed. The most recent incident being that of

congesting the entire Ethereum network.

Because of all these limitations there was a requirement of a high throughtput platform on which DAPPs could be launched. Here comes the role of Zilliqa, it is a
high throughput smart contract platform
which has been solely designed from ground up to scale linearly as the no of nodes in the network increases
. How Zilliqa does all this you may ask. Let me explain to you in brief.Zilliqa implements something called sharding, which in simple terms is breaking transactions into small no. of pieces.
Suppose zilliqa network has 100 mining nodes, these 100 nodes are then divided into say 10 groups called shards each having 10 nodes per shard. Now if each shard processes 10 Tx/s then all shards 10 in this case, together would process 100 Tx/s combined. This is sharding in the most simple terms.

Zilliqa is also implementing it's own smart contract language
that is perfectly match with it use of sharding which will allow new applications across industries that would not have been possible until now.

Digital Advertising was once simpler but now has evolved into an opaque and inefficient market place
where advertisers, publishers and most noteably the users are harmed by this system. You won't believe how much an average user is paying to be bothered by the ads in the form of data bandwidth which add up to around $23 / month according to New York Times.
Apart form all this it also adversely affecting user devices and privacy with the use of trackers. This has led to the extensive use of adblockers.
In order to tackle the issues with conventional digital adversting, the Brave project has been intiated to provide users, advertisers and publishers a Decentralized, transparent Digital AD exchange platform based on the Blockchain..
Brave is implementing its solution in stages.
STAGE 1:
The first stage of the Brave platform is in the Brave Browser which not only blocks Ads and Trackers but also has a ledger system which rewards sites based on Users' attention.

STAGE 2:
The second stage is implementing a decentralized Ad exchange which involves a new digital currency for user attention. This currency is Basic Attention Token (BAT). BAT tokens are derived from user attention on content the user is engaging.
The Brave Browser automatically monitors user attention as they browse online content accurately, anonymously and privately and thus minimizes fraud. When ever a user visites a site and view ads, publisher receives BAT tokens and the users too receive recieve tokens in return for viewing Ads if they choose to do so. The users also can donated for pay for premium content via BAT
. This way Brave provide a new standard for evaluating user attention.
