Cryptocurrencies are bigger than Paypal,Expedia and Twitter combined

The world’s cryptocurrencies continue to grow year after year, hitting a combined market cap of more than $143 billion.

And the combined total market cap of online currencies is turning out to be more than the combined market caps of many online companies too.

Facebook is still 3.46 times bigger than all the cryptocurrencies in the world.

All the cryptocurrencies in the world are worth more than PayPal, Expedia, Zillow and Twitter combined. Ethereum alone is bigger than Expedia and Groupon combined.

Bitcoin and Ether had a volatile September, with the price of a single bitcoin rising by about 20% over the past week, but finishing September 16% lower. Over the quarter, bitcoin prices are up 67%. Ether tokens saw a 12% weekly gain, but the digital currency is still in a bear market as it’s down more than 20% since the start of the month.

Morgan Stanley Chief Executive James Gorman said earlier this week that the cryptocurrency phenomenon is “more than just a fad.”

And while former Fortress Investment Group manager Mike Novogratz is certain that bitcoin is a bubble, he’s suggesting you buy it anyway.
