So what is happening to the price of EOS tokens?

If you are bullish on the future price of Steem and haven't looked into EOS - you should. Same creator, same concept of appreciation by having built-in incentives for holding.

At launch in July an EOS token would run you about 5 US dollars, and there was some hype about EOS being an "Etherium Killer". The reason is that EOS allows for decentralized freemium apps where users don't need to use EOS themselves - but app developers will have to hold them for bandwidth. It is also said to have a solution to etherium's scalability issues. I believe both of these things may ease adoption.

Short-term traders quickly got bored with he lack of news about EOS after the token's initial launch, and the price dropped to around 2 US dollars - then below one dollar per token.

By late October the price started picking up again, and now in early desember it had experienced a pretty stable increase in price - even when you controll for the EOS price covariance with the price of BTC. As I am writing this it is approaching the price it had at launch, currently trading for $3.58.

I am not a financial advisor, and this is not financial adivice. However the price trend this last month does not appear to be spurios in my opinion. It seems to be rooted in fundementals, and to be correlated people having high expectations for it's ahead of schedule 4th december test launch. I am not a techie either, but I believe that the test launch will be a success. Is it too late to buy? Probably not.

July 2018 they will launch the real EOS blockhain.
