Crypto Coin Scene Now Like Early Internet in Media

I'm old enough to have witnessed the early days of the popularity of the Internet.

I created my first website in early '95 and in those days I had to explain to many of my friends and acquaintances the hard-to-wrap-your-head-around concepts of the worldwide web, email, etc.

For the next couple years, the mass media such as newspapers, magazines, and TV shows took upon themselves to present their view of the Internet. Over 95% of these stories were heavily negative.

The traditional media was working really hard to prevent the inevitable: the empowerment of their audience via a revolutionary and disruptive new technology.

These good old memories were brought back to my mind in light of the recent hit taken by many crypto coins. Including Steem.

As blockchain projects are gaining much ground in the mainstream consciousness there is no shortage of haters who gleefully spew their schadenfreude at the whole blockchain crypto field.

To be fair, there are many alt coins out there who deserve the venom but I wonder how many months of years it will take for the mainstream and alternative media to present a more balanced coverage.

I, for one, am curious to see how this whole crypto scene will work out. What will be the percentage of blockchain projects that will disappear? 70%? 80%? 98%? Which projects will survive? Which projects will become the stars?

What do you think?
