End of the Road for BitcoinDark

For those of you still holding on to BitcoinDark (BTCD), I'm afraid the ship has sailed. Holders of BTCD had 1 year to swap their coins for Komodo (KMD) at the rate of 50 KMD for every 1 BTCD. As of 15 January 2018, the 1 year window for the swap is officially closed.

It is estimated that 90% of all existing BTCD has been converted to KMD. Anyone who has not converted their BTCD are left with a dead coin since the lead developer, jl777, turned his focus to Komodo which was highly touted as the successor to BTCD.

Unfortunately, the news of BTCD's demise does not appear to have reached a small select group of holders or investors and a strange spike in price was noted on January 19 when the ailing coin hit a post January 15 high of USD 297.98. At the time of writing, BTCD is still trading above USD 200 with the highest trade volume coming from Poloniex and Bittrex at 55.97% and 38.76% respectively. A warning notice has also been posted on the BitcoinDark website.

Bittrex has already announced that BTCD will be delisted on January 26. There has been no announcements from Poloniex or Cryptopia so if you are one of those still holding on to a BTCD portfolio, now might be a good time to cash out at one of these exchanges before it is too late.
