One of my favorite coin is Vertcoin. There was massive price increase in October due to successful atomic swap between Litecoin and Vertcoin. This means, wherever you can use Bitcoin and Litecoin, you will be able to use Vertcoin as well.
In around 12 December, there will be block reward halving from 50VTC to 25VTC. This explains the price increase today. Also they are giving away free Vertcoin to celebrate 4 years birthday and reward halving. From their twitter page,
