Bit-Ignorance

For the last few of years when I have tried to talk to friends and family about Crypto Currencies the blank stares and disinterested dismissals were fairly common. As it continues to barge its way into the forefront of everyday life it seems everyone now has an opinion.

While it is great (and inevitable) that Crypto Currencies and Blockchain technology is getting the traction it deserves, it doesn’t stop uneducated misinformation from being spread like an audible game of Broken Telephone (formerly known as Chinese Whispers).

However, there seems to be a fine line between uneducated and ignorant.

Uneducated is you haven’t learned what there is to know or just haven’t come across the information on a particular subject and we can only encounter, learn and retain so much information at a time. Uneducated is fine if there is an openness or willingness to understand something when presented with material. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything but it should add to your knowledge base that forms your opinions.

It is when the uneducated refuse to learn, when the strongly opinionated instantly dismiss what contradicts their positions and when those who block out what makes them uncomfortable.

This is ignorant.

The Blockchain revolution is breaking out from the underground with implications that will affect the entire world as we know it. Ignore it at your own detriment.
