Film distributor launches cryptocurrency to encourage viewing and sharing of movie trailers

Australian company Demand Film has launched a new digital token Called Screencreds as a reward for moviegoers who watch and share film trailers. More than a marketing stroke, this initiative aims to revive the film industry in the country.

A revolution

Demand Film users can now be paid to watch, share and promote their latest movies and trailers.

Created in 2016, Demand Film has published 40 cult titles across 6 English territories. It focuses on documentaries and special events every day. In addition, its new native cryptocurrency Screencreds was launched some time after its expansion in Germany.

David Doepel, the CEO and managing director of Demand Film commented on the news by saying:

"Users will be paid for what they are already doing - watching trailers, sharing them, promoting our movies to their friends, and the payment will be based on influence. The more people see the shared trailer, and the more tickets they buy for our screenings, the more Screencreds users win. "

Increasing use

Screencreds are used to purchase movie tickets or participate in Demand Film's VIP events . Cinema buffs could even meet the actors and production teams. Moreover, an official source warns that the new cryptocurrency could be supported by the Australian cryptocurrency NCX In the coming months.
Regarding the fee, the filters will be an asset for both users and developers.
"Right now, we declare royalties quarterly and we pay the filmmakers. With a cryptocurrency, the payment would be automatic. The filmmaker would receive his money right away, "the company said.
Blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies bring many opportunities to the film industry. As the number of tickets sold decreases each year, the industry is forced to innovate to attract more audiences. As a result, the exploitation of emerging technologies would breathe new life into rewarding filmmakers and viewers alike.
