#redbakedshrike

Whenever I am taking a trip to different wastelands here in Austria I often encounter the Red Baked shrike that is more or less common in this regions. I often see it at wastelands in Upper and Lower Austria.

I encountered this bird on several photography trips mainly in lower Austria and in Burgenland, but also here in Upper Austria it can be found near fields where a lot of bushes are growing on the side

The Red-backed shrike is called Neuntöter in German (Ninetimes-Killer) since it likes to store the insects it catches on thornbushes. I have already taken several pictures of this birds at different locations.
