What a beautiful city this is! I reflect on how kindly it welcomed us years ago—first my eldest son, and later my youngest and me. Please forgive me if I sound distressed lately; the past few weeks have been devastating—though not nearly as much as for my fellow Venezuelans who have experienced, and continue to experience firsthand, the tragedy of the two earthquakes. I am well aware of the harsh reality unfolding in my beloved country, and that is why I set out last Wednesday feeling so disheartened—so much so that only now am I able to share the story of that day’s walk. People advise clearing one’s mind, but I do not want to do that. It feels like escaping the profound pain of my Venezuelan brothers and sisters. Even so, I told myself I had to go out—first, for the sake of my physical health. I regret having to admit that I need to prioritize myself—even if it makes me feel selfish—because my body has been demanding it lately. Out on the street, I found what we call street art. This is urban art—where unknown artists use the city as a canvas, drawing inspiration from just a few cans of paint. I didn't go inside, but there were works displayed outdoors, and others visible from the street. They were truly beautiful. It depicted a charming country scene on the brickwork, and the painting was held in such high regard that, even when a metal grate was installed over the wall, the artwork was left intact. We never know when or how life might change; we see this in Venezuela, with so many families gone, shattered, or separated forever after just **39 seconds** of earthquakes. Pienso en lo amable que fue cuando nos recibió hace varios años, primero a mi hijo mayor, luego a mí y a mi hijo menor. Disculpen que últimamente escriba como afligida y es que las ultimas semanas han sido devastadoras, aunque no tanto como para mis compatriotas venezolanos que vivieron y siguen viviendo en carne propia la tragedia por los dos terremotos. No estoy ajena a la cruda realidad que se vive allá en mi amado país y por eso el miércoles pasado salí sin ánimo, tanto era el desánimo que en este momento es que puedo compartir mi caminata de ese día. Despejar la mente es lo que aconsejan. No quiero hacerlo. Siento que es cómo escapar del dolor tan profundo de mis hermanos venezolanos. Aun así, me dije que debo salir, en primer lugar, por mi salud física y lamento reconocer que tengo que pensar más en mi aunque me sienta como una egoísta pero el cuerpo me lo exige más últimamente. En la calle pude encontrar lo que llamamos arte callejero. Ese es el arte urbano, donde artistas desconocidos utilizan la ciudad como lienzo, mientras se inspiran con unos cuantos potes de pintura. No entré a la tienda, pero había obras expuestas afuera y otras adentro que se lograban ver desde la calle. Realmente eran preciosas. La pintura plasmaba un ambiente muy campestre sobre una pared de ladrillos y tal era la importancia de esa bella pintura que, aunque instalaron una reja sobre esa pared no se deshicieron la pintura. Insisto, ver este tipo de cosas sencillas de la vida son lindas y relajantes, al menos para mí por eso se los comparto. ![3.JPG](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/parauri/EpEJJP83JyzZyKwe7sd8MJyqD4zrNuM5n11nquxmi2kB72YqkrLv1mgMKUfSrdHwpJH.JPG) Como les dije la pasión por el futbol se ve por todos los espacios de la ciudad y las ventas se activan hasta en los comercios informales quienes montan sus tiendas al aire libre exhibiendo y vendiendo tanto camisetas como banderas para apoyar a la selección colombiana. No sabemos cuándo y cómo la vida nos cambie, ejemplo tenemos en Venezuela con tantas familias desaparecidas, fracturadas, separadas para siempre luego de **39 segundos** de terremotos.
