He estado leyendo varias publicaciones este fin de semana y me encontré con una en especial... Es común encontrarnos con una paradoja que, a menudo, preferimos ignorar. Recientemente, la publicación de @emiliorios desató una inquietud válida y reiterada: [***la sensación de que "nadie me lee"***](https://peakd.com/hive-131951/@emiliorios/nadie-esta-leyendo-mis-articulos-cuando-el-fracaso-obliga-a-revisarnos-como-evaluar-esen). Sin embargo, al observar las estadísticas con ojo clínico como profesional del Análisis Numérico, nos topamos con una realidad aún más desconcertante. Publicaciones con cientos de votos, pero con apenas una veintena de visualizaciones y un puñado de comentarios que ni se acerca al 2% de los seguidores. *¿Qué nos dice esto sobre la salud de nuestra interacción social en la cadena de bloques?* Como creadores, nos enfrentamos a un dilema ético y existencial: *¿Estamos escribiendo para seres humanos o para algoritmos y máquinas de curación?* Esta reflexión no nace del juicio negativo, sino de una necesidad imperiosa de recuperar nuestra dignidad como generadores de pensamiento y de cuestionar *si el éxito en la Web3 se mide en HBD o en el impacto real que dejamos en el otro*. ### **La anatomía del voto mecanizado** Para entender por qué una publicación puede tener 311 votos y solo 22 visualizaciones reales, debemos desglosar la mecánica del "voto automático" o las "rutas de curación" (curation trails). Esto genera recompensas, sí, pero vacía al acto de votar de su esencia comunicativa. Como bien señala el autor de esta inquietud, ver 292 votos que nunca "abrieron la puerta" del artículo es una señal de alarma. Es un aplauso en una sala vacía, ejecutado por maniquíes programados, jejeje. Si bien estos votos sostienen económicamente la plataforma, no deben confundirse con la audiencia. El riesgo radica en que el autor empiece a creer que esos 311 votos representan a 311 lectores. El "fracaso" que menciona Emilio Ríos no es necesariamente la falta de calidad, sino la desconexión entre el incentivo económico y el interés genuino. # **Calidad vs. Cantidad: La lección de los seguidores** El ejemplo de la creadora con 10 millones de seguidores y menos de 100 mil "me gusta", frente a la de un millón con una interacción casi total, es la ilustración perfecta de lo que en marketing digital se llama *Engagement Rate* (Tasa de compromiso). Esto es lop que debemos tener en cuenta. En su ensayo seminal *"1,000 True Fans"* (1,000 fans verdaderos), **Kevin Kelly**, fundador de la revista Wired, sostiene que un creador no necesita millones de seguidores para tener éxito, sino mil personas que realmente valoren su trabajo, que consuman todo lo que produce y que establezcan una conexión directa con él. Kelly afirma: > "Un fan verdadero es alguien que comprará cualquier cosa que produzcas... Ellos son los que conducirán 200 millas para verte cantar". Yo agregaría: no es alguien que espera ser recompensado por un voto a su comentario. O alguien que en su comentario mensiga el voto de su propia publicación. Trasladando esto a Hive, 1,520 seguidores son una cifra respetable, pero si solo el 5% vota y un 1% de ellos comenta de forma consciente, ese 5% es tu verdadero capital social. El resto es ruido estadístico. La dignidad del creador reside en valorar a esos pocos que se detuvieron a leer, que dedicaron tiempo de su vida (el recurso más escaso que existe) a procesar tus ideas, por encima de la masa silenciosa que solo aporta un valor monetario automatizado. ### **La Economía de la Atención y la deshumanización del contenido** Vivimos en lo que el economista **Herbert Simon** definió como la ***"Economía de la Atención"***. Simon argumentaba que *"una riqueza de información crea una pobreza de atención"*. En Hive, esta pobreza se agudiza porque el sistema premia la rapidez y la eficiencia de la curación sobre la profundidad de la lectura. Cuando un curador vota sin leer, está tratando al contenido como un *commodity* (una mercancía genérica), no como una obra humana. Pero para ti que me lees, por dónde te inclinas... ### **Publicar para la posteridad, no para el monedero** *El creador de contenido que solo busca la ganancia económica es, en esencia, un empleado de un algoritmo. El verdadero "generador de contenido" (un término que a veces se queda corto para definir a un pensador o artista) es aquel que escribe porque tiene algo que decir, no algo que vender.* Yo no estoy en Hive para ser reconocido por las ganancias, sino para dejar su huella. Esta es mi premisa más poderosa que puedo tener como autor. La escritura es una forma de inmortalidad. Cuando publicamos, estamos lanzando una botella al mar del tiempo. Si fuera por las ganancias ya hace tiempo hubiese desaparecido. En el libro *"La utilidad de lo inútil"*, de **Nuccio Ordine** (si no le han leído, no sabrán lo que se han perdido...), el autor defiende aquellas actividades que no generan un beneficio económico inmediato pero que alimentan el espíritu. Ordine cita: > "Si no se comprende la gratuidad de lo inútil, si no se comprende que lo que no da beneficio puede ser lo más importante, no se comprende nada de la vida". Escribir en Hive con el objetivo de conectar, de conocer a otros y de expresar una visión del mundo, es un acto de resistencia frente a la mecanización de la sociedad actual. Y es precisamente por mi rebeldía porque persisto en tener contacto con ustedes. ### **El valor de la honestidad estadística** *Para mí es loable preferir estadísticas reales (donde las visualizaciones coinciden con los votos y el tiempo de permanencia) sobre las infladas. La honestidad intelectual comienza por no engañarse a uno mismo.* Si un artículo tiene 22 visualizaciones y 7 comentaristas, esos son los números que importan. Esos siete que osaron dejar su comentario representan 7 puentes tendidos (conexiones creadas). Esos son los "conocidos" con los que el autor hace vida en la plataforma. Los otros 290 votos son simplemente el motor financiero que permite que la plataforma siga encendida, pero no son "lectores". Separar ambos conceptos es vital para la salud mental del creador. ### **Hacia una nueva ética en la creación de contenido** *¿Cómo recuperar la dignidad en un entorno tan automatizado?* 1. **Fomentar la reciprocidad real:** No se trata de "voto por voto", sino de "lectura por lectura". Dedicar tiempo a comentar el trabajo ajeno con profundidad obliga al otro a vernos como humanos. 2. **Ignorar el sesgo del dólar:** El valor de una publicación no está en la cifra que aparece debajo del post después de 7 días. *Está en la vigencia de sus ideas un año después*. 3. **Educar a la audiencia:** Invitar a los seguidores a interactuar, a debatir, y dejar claro que un comentario reflexivo vale más que un voto de *trail*. ### **La huella indeleble** Estimados creadores, no se desanimen por la frialdad de las métricas. Tengamos la dignidad de preferir la verdad de una visualización real sobre el espejismo de trescientos votos vacíos. Pues, al final del camino, lo que queda no es el saldo de nuestra billetera, sino la calidad de los vínculos que logramos construir y la autenticidad con la que compartimos nuestra esencia con el mundo. I’ve been reading a few posts this weekend and came across one in particular… It’s common to encounter a paradox that we often prefer to ignore. Recently, @emiliorios’s post sparked a valid and recurring concern: [***the feeling that ‘nobody reads me’***](https://peakd.com/hive-131951/@emiliorios/nadie-esta-leyendo-mis-articulos-cuando-el-fracaso-obliga-a-revisarnos-como-evaluar-esen). However, when we examine the statistics with a clinical eye as a professional in Numerical Analysis, we come across an even more disconcerting reality. Posts with hundreds of upvotes, but barely twenty views and a handful of comments that don’t even come close to 2% of followers. *What does this tell us about the health of our social interaction on the blockchain?* As creators, we face an ethical and existential dilemma: *Are we writing for human beings or for algorithms and curation machines?* This reflection does not stem from negative judgement, but from an urgent need to reclaim our dignity as generators of thought and to question *whether success in Web3 is measured in HBD or in the real impact we leave on others*. ### **The anatomy of the mechanised vote** To understand why a post might have 311 votes and only 22 actual views, we need to break down the mechanics of ‘automatic voting’ or ‘curation trails’. It’s applause in an empty room, performed by programmed mannequins, hehehe. Whilst these votes provide the platform’s financial sustenance, they must not be confused with the audience. The risk lies in the author beginning to believe that those 311 votes represent 311 readers. The ‘failure’ mentioned by Emilio Ríos is not necessarily a lack of quality, but the disconnect between financial incentive and genuine interest. # **Quality vs. Quantity: The lesson from followers** The example of the creator with 10 million followers and fewer than 100,000 ‘likes’, compared to the one with a million followers and almost total engagement, is the perfect illustration of what is known in digital marketing as the *Engagement Rate*. This is what we must bear in mind. In his seminal essay *‘1,000 True Fans’*, **Kevin Kelly**, founder of Wired magazine, argues that a creator does not need millions of followers to be successful, but rather a thousand people who truly value their work, who consume everything they produce, and who establish a direct connection with them. Kelly states: > ‘A true fan is someone who will buy anything you produce... They are the ones who will drive 200 miles to see you sing.’ I would add: it is not someone who expects to be rewarded for a vote on their comment. Or someone who, in their comment, promotes the vote for their own post. Applying this to Hive, 1,520 followers is a respectable figure, but if only 5% vote and 1% of them comment thoughtfully, that 5% is your true social capital. The rest is statistical noise. The creator’s dignity lies in valuing those few who stopped to read, who dedicated time from their lives (the scarcest resource there is) to processing your ideas, above the silent mass that contributes only automated monetary value. ### **The Attention Economy and the dehumanisation of content** We live in what the economist **Herbert Simon** defined as the ***‘Economy of Attention’***. Simon argued that *‘a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention’*. On Hive, this poverty is exacerbated because the system rewards the speed and efficiency of curation over the depth of reading. When a curator votes without reading, they are treating the content as a *commodity* (a generic product), not as a human creation. But for you reading this, which way do you lean... ### **Publishing for posterity, not for profit** *The content creator who seeks only financial gain is, in essence, an employee of an algorithm. The true ‘content creator’ (a term that sometimes falls short of defining a thinker or artist) is one who writes because they have something to say, not something to sell.* I am not on Hive to be recognised for my earnings, but to leave my mark. This is the most powerful premise I can have as an author. Writing is a form of immortality. When we publish, we are throwing a bottle into the sea of time. If it were for the money, I would have disappeared long ago. In the book *‘The Usefulness of the Useless’* by **Nuccio Ordine** (if you haven’t read it, you won’t know what you’re missing...), the author champions those activities that do not generate an immediate financial gain but which nourish the spirit. Ordine writes: > “If you do not understand the gratuitousness of the useless, if you do not understand that what yields no profit may be the most important thing, you understand nothing of life.” Writing on Hive with the aim of connecting, getting to know others and expressing a worldview is an act of resistance against the mechanisation of today’s society. And it is precisely because of my rebelliousness that I persist in staying in touch with you. ### **The value of statistical honesty** *For me, it is commendable to prefer real statistics (where views match votes and dwell time) over inflated ones. Intellectual honesty begins with not deceiving oneself.* If an article has 22 views and 7 commenters, those are the numbers that matter. Those seven who dared to leave a comment represent seven bridges built (connections made). These are the ‘acquaintances’ with whom the author interacts on the platform. The other 290 votes are simply the financial engine that keeps the platform running, but they are not ‘readers’. Distinguishing between these two concepts is vital for the creator’s mental health. ### **Towards a new ethic in content creation** *How can we restore dignity in such a highly automated environment?* 1. **Foster genuine reciprocity:** It’s not about “vote for vote”, but “read for read”. Taking the time to comment on others’ work in depth forces them to see us as human beings. 2. **Ignore the dollar bias:** The value of a post does not lie in the figure that appears beneath it after 7 days. *It lies in the relevance of its ideas a year later*. 3. **Educate the audience:** Invite followers to interact, to debate, and make it clear that a thoughtful comment is worth more than a *trail* vote. ### **The indelible mark** Dear creators, do not be discouraged by the coldness of metrics.
