Christianity is the most followed religion in the world. It's also the most spread out religion. All of North and South America follows Christianity in majority. Most of West and Central Europe follows Christianity in majority along with Southern African countries and the Australian continent.

Surprisingly, Buddhism is not a major religion in China and Japan, contrary to popular belief. Also, surprising to see Christianity not a major religion in Scandinavia.

Islam is followed in Central Asia, Northern Africa and South East Asia. Interesting to see the divide in Northern and Southern Africa. While north follows Islam majorly, south follows Christianity. And yes, Buddhism is not a major religion in South East Asia. It is Islam. Infact, Islam is the second largest religion in the world and also happens to be the fastest growing religion.

Now we come to Buddhism. Buddhism is mostly followed in countries like Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Mongolia. I'm surprised to see Sri Lanka on the list as I thought it was a Hindu majority country. Because of countries like Thailand, Laos , Burma(Myanmar) and Cambodia, Buddhism has penetrated within India aswell and is a major religion in North East India.

Last we come to Hinduism. Hinduism is followed majorly in India and Nepal. Nepal is the small strip of land touching the border of Northern India. Though it's only majorly followed in two countries but Indonesia also has a sizeable population. Another fascinating this is that there are over a billion Hindus all over the world as India is the second most populated country in the world only next to China. That is 1:7 of the world population ratio.
