If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed.......and we will deserve it.

More Republicans Approve of Storming the Capitol
A new YouGov poll found that 45% of Republican voters approved of the storming of the U.S. Capitol, while 43% opposed it.
Just 27% of Republicans think this action should be considered a threat to democracy, with 68% saying otherwise.
Let that sink in.

Politics:
White House officials were shaken by Trump's reaction to a mob of his supporters descending on the Capitol today. He was described to me as borderline enthusiastic because it meant the certification was being derailed. It has genuinely freaked people out.

Schedule an impeachment vote for this very night. Stay ’til dawn. Do whatever is necessary. Avert any potential for martial law. Deny Trump command of the military; withdraw the nuclear codes. Don’t wait until the next crossed red line, until the next smashed barrier, until the next putsch attempt. Install Mike Pence right away as the 46th president and work with him to manage the transition on January 20 to Joe Biden as the 47th. Bar Trump from ever again holding office—and get ready to prosecute him for his crimes on January 21.
Act now. And everyone who acts now—even those who were most in the wrong until now—can share the credit and recognition as a protector of the Constitution. There is no time for delay.
Remove this treasonous president. Invite his own party to join the effort to remove him now, or to share now and forever Trump’s guilt.
Note that this was well after the Capitol was stormed: Giuliani to Senator: ‘Try to Just Slow it Down’ The best part? Giuliani left the voicemail for the wrong Senator who then released the audio to the press.
Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) yelled out to his Republican colleagues “this is because of you!” as Capitol police streamed in and the gallery doors were shut, according to the Hill pool.
This might be really significant:
This is nuts. The Acting Secretary of Defense acknowledging that he and the Joint Chiefs Chairman did not discuss deploying the National Guard with President Trump - but rather with VP Pence and Congressional leaders. pic.twitter.com/b8gAT9bnSC

Rudy Giuliani called for “trial by combat” and then chaos descended on Capitol Hill. I’m not a lawyer, and I don’t play one on TV, but that sounds a lot like 18 U.S.C. § 2101 might be applicable here.
BREAKING: There have been discussions among cabinet members regarding potentially invoking the 25th Amendment, @margbrennan reports. However, it has NOT been formally presented to the Vice President by cabinet members. @CBSNews

Speaking of which, Romney Says Trump Incited Insurrection
We gather today due to a selfish man’s injured pride and the outrage of his supporters whom he has deliberately misinformed for the past two months and stirred to action this very morning. What happened here today was an insurrection, incited by the President of the United States. Those who choose to continue to support his dangerous gambit by objecting to the results of a legitimate, democratic election will forever be seen as being complicit in an unprecedented attack against our democracy. They will be remembered for their role in this shameful episode in American history. That will be their legacy.
The National Association of Manufacturers Ask Pence to Invoke 25th Amendment
The outgoing president incited violence in an attempt to retain power, and any elected leader defending him is violating their oath to the Constitution and rejecting democracy in favor of anarchy. Anyone indulging conspiracy theories to raise campaign dollars is complicit. Vice President Pence, who was evacuated from the Capitol, should seriously consider working with the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to preserve democracy.
