Dangerous Cop Claims his Reckless Behavior Was Not Due to Alcohol

Deputy Aaron Chavez of the Valusia County Sheriff's department in Florida was booked for DUI. Chavez was pulled over a little after 11:00 pm on 3/24/2020. When deputies approached his car it was parked in the middle of the turn lane. Chavez told them he didn't know why but he was going home. He also claimed he didn't have anything to drink at all.

Other motorists reported that Chavez's vehicle was not maintaining lanes as he drove. The arrest report claimed Chavez smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. Is this the kind of integrity and honor you are looking for in your state enforcement agents Valusia County? Wonder what action the sheriff will take? I'm sure he is powerless because of whatever collective bargaining agreement is in place because of the union. Of course he is on administrative leave while his case is pending.

I guess maybe a public records request for the bodycam footage of the arresting deputies is in order. Stay tuned for more developments here.
