New Zealand and New Caledonia are scheduled to play their OFC Under-19 Championship semifinal game on 2018-08-15 at 9:00pm EST. New Zealand finished 1st in group A by winning all 3 games over Tahiti, Tonga, and Papua New Guinea. Their opening match was a nailbiter against Tahiti but they managed to hold off the hosts for a single goal victory. New Caledonia held a 2-1 lead near the end of their first match against Solomon Islands but were unable to secure the victory and conceded a couple of late goals to lose 2-3. New Caledonia won their next game over Vanuatu by a score of 8-1 which set them up to advance from the group with only a 1-1 draw versus Fiji finishing 2nd place in group B. New Caledonia were runner up in 2008 but have never won the tournament while New Zealand were champions in 2016. The winner of this match will advance to the final and will also qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
